Monday 3rd December & Saturday 31st December
The time of year is nearly upon us for festive fun and cheer. We have a few things to announce for December, one of which will follow in the next newsletter.
We want to kick off with a big old Christmas quiz on the first MONDAY of December (3rd). Hosted by our dear friend George there will be a Christmas themed round and a local knowledge round amongst some of the classics. Please note this isn’t the Big 6, it will be light hearted and achievable. We wont be charging an entry fee for the quiz, we would just require you to let us know you’re coming so we can save you a table. Complimentary Jarlsberg and black pudding cocktail sticks will be on the table to get the juices flowing and we will be serving a mulled black hibiscus beer. Our usual cold plates and snacks will be available should you require any more sustenance. Prizes for the winners will be a £30 bar tab provided by us and losers will win something sad… like a dark chocolate Bounty.
On to NYE, we have already had a few keen folk emailing and asking what our plans are and we know you love to get organised. During the day we will be doing our usual service from 12-3PM and then dropping to meat, cheese and snacks from 3-6PM. In the evening we will be offering a four course menu with a couple of optional extras for those that want to go the whole hog. Game terrine, halibut, black lentil dhal and braised Yorkshire veal cheek to give you an idea. The menu is pictured below in its entirety. We will also have an extended ‘By the glass ‘ list from Champagne producer Jacques Lassaigne who we have had on the list since day one. We will be doing one sitting at 8PM with a vegan menu is available, the menu will be priced at £50pp and the table will be yours all evening. The bar will be serving drinks until 12:30AM so you are more than welcome to get merry and see in the new year with us. Locals and regulars don’t be shy to join us at the bar for a drink.
We only have 8 tables available due to some family being in attendance so please do email as soon as possible to secure a table. We will require a £25 deposit per person, this will be refundable up to 7 days prior to the event.
